CDMT acknowledges that the performing arts sector offers a range of opportunities for students and professionals to study and train for a career in dance, drama and musical theatre.

For instance, some programmes focus on occupational competence in preparation for a specific vocational role (i.e. performing), others support progression towards the sector, some encourage reflective practice in a work-based context (i.e. teaching and arts management), whilst others  develop skills in research and analysis which contribute to the industry’s wider understanding of its history and contextual influences (i.e. Academia). The first example above is served through CDMT’s Accreditation of professional schools, the second case is supported  by Affiliate Access to Professional Training  and Performing Arts Courses, whereas the third and fourth examples are addressed through CDMT’s Affiliate offering for quality Continuing Professional Development and Higher Education modules.

Whatever stage individuals may be, in terms of their aspirations and advancement towards employment or career development, CDMT endeavours to ensure that appropriate quality provision is available to meet their needs.
